[ARTICLE] 161209 A new beginning for Kim Taehyung as an actor, not as Bangtan's V, anticipation for his crazily (good) synchronisation (with his character)

Will actor Kim Taehyung's challenge succeed?

V (real name Kim Taehyung), from the group BTS, will be starring in a new Monday/Tuesday drama called "Hwarang" (writer Park Eunyong/director Yoon Sung-sik) on KBS 2TV starting December 19th. This is a youth historical drama that takes place 1500 years ago at Silla's capital, Seorabeol, that showcases the hot passion, love and bright growth of flower-like men, Hwarangs. As it's the first time in  (Korean) dramas that the Hwarangs are being focused on as a main material, since before the airing of the drama, it has been gaining a lot of attention.

In the midst of actors Park Seo-joon, Go Ara, and Park Hyung-sik each taking the role for lead Sun-woo, Aro, and Sam Maekjong, Kim Taehyung will be playing the role of Hansung. Among the 6 characters in "Hwarang": Sun-woo and Sam Maekjong (Park Hyung-sik's role), Suho (Choi Minho's role), Banryu (Do Jihan's role), Yuh-ul (Cho Yun-oo's role), Kim Taehyung's Hansung role will be the maknae, as the youngest of them all.

Of course, this is by no means an easy challenge. First and foremost, V is a member of BTS, who debuted in 2013, and has consistently released good music and performances alongside his members. This October, their second full length album "WINGS," dominated all sorts of important music charts both domestically and abroad, and won the Grand Awards at the '2016 Melon Music Awards' and '2016 MAMA.' Although he has been acknowledged worldwide as a singer, he has not shown off his acting yet so he is not a verified actor just yet.

Furthermore, it's not just Park Hyung-sik from the group ZE:A, or Choi Minho from SHINEE who is also starring in this drama, but many idols such as Girl's Generation's Yoona, ZE:A's Im Siwan, B1A4's Jinyoung, Girl's Day's Minah, Hyeri, After School's Uee, Nana, EXO's D.O. (Do Kyung-soo), Suho (Kim Joon-myeon), have shown good acting in various dramas or movies and have received the title "Acting-dols". (T/N: "Acting-dols," idols who go into acting) Therefore, there is considerable interest in whether or not, Kim Taehyung (not V) will become the new "Acting-dol" with his new acting.

Nevertheless, the reason why it's worth anticipating to watch is that (Kim Taehyung) boasts crazily (good) synchronisation with his character Hansung (in the drama). In the drama, Hansung is the last remaining true bone of the Seok family (T/N: True bone (Jingol) was the 2nd highest rank in the bone rank system, a system of aristocratic/royal rank used in the Silla Dynasty.); he has a lot of curiosity and laughter and if he focuses on something, he is a pure character who won't be aware of (anything) even if the world turns upside down. In addition, he is also unmistakably the cute maknae that fits in well, has fun and is happy with his hyungs  (T/N: The other main actors of Hwarang). He usually forms part of the maknae line within BTS together with Jimin and Jungkook, having shown a cheerful image that is full of aegyo; and with this, (this reporter) is of the opinion that (Kim Taehyung) is 100% qualified to act as Hansung.

With an image showing complete immersion into the role he plays in the teaser video released on the 8th (December) as well, he's alleviated the concerns over (any) controversies with being known as 'Balyeongi' (T/N: Meaning someone who's awkward and bad at acting).
In the video, Kim Taehyung's image of getting scolded for sleeping in, dancing merrily with the hyungs, showing an enthusiastic expression to hwarang Park Seojoon who he wants to be like most when dissing Seuseung, played by actor Seon Dongil, raises expectations for the first broadcast.

Since filming has already ended, all that's left is to patiently wait for the responses of viewers. 'Hwarang', a planned 20 episode drama that was 100% pre-produced, started their filming in early April and wrapped up all the filming in early September.

V had the schedule of BTS' Asia Tour '2016 BTS LIVE HYYH on stage: epilogue Asia Tour' running concurrently to the height of the drama filming period. (This reporter) heard that while he was also feeling the burden of pressure at his first attempt at acting, he was able to receive strength and do his part from the support and advice given by the sunbae actors, as well as Director Yoon Sungsik and the filming staff who guided him. Regarding this, V said in an interview "It's my first time acting so there was a lot of pressure but the producer lead me while explaining to me how I can play the character in the drama well. Thanks to the staffs and sunbaenims taking care of me well, I filmed enjoyably.  Particularly, (Kim Taehyung) felt that together with the 5 hwarang hyungs, they were a team and was fully immersed in the filming. It was fun, in itself, to be able to film in a good atmosphere and come across a good work."
